Rates at Tengile River Lodge

From R46,500 pppn (2026, high season). 2026: high season (11 Jan-31 May, 1 Oct-20 Dec) R46,500 per person sharing; peak season (1 Jun-30 Sep, 21 Dec-5 Jan) R50,000. The Family Suite is a whole-unit rate, not per person: R162,750 high season, R175,000 peak. A private vehicle can be added for R23,000 a night. No 2027 rate is published. Converted at 1 USD = 16.35 ZAR on 23 September 2026, the 2026 high-season rate is about $2,844. No conservation levy amount is published on the lodge's own site.

What the rate covers is not confirmed. We do not know yet whether meals, drinks and activities are included, so read this as the bed only.

Every figure on this page is in US dollars.

Rates and fees come from each lodge's own website, read 16 September 2026, cross-checked against the Sabi Sand Wildtuin's own published Guest Conservation Contribution and access fees at sabisand.co.za (the landowners' association, spelled without an 's') and against a reserve overview compiled the same day. Two booking-agent microsites, sabisands.com and sabisands.co.za (both spelled with an 's', unrelated to the association), were checked for cross-reference only and are not used as a source for any rate or levy figure. Ulusaba's own site quotes no nightly rate for its three lodges, so those are recorded as rates on request. Sabi Sabi and MalaMala are not on the Sabi Sand Wildtuin's own lodge list, and neither states whether the reserve's own conservation contribution applies to a stay there; both maintain their own separate levy or none at all, as noted lodge by lodge.

Questions about Tengile River Lodge

Is Tengile River Lodge good for families?

With conditions. Children under 12 are not permitted unless the lodge is booked exclusively, though a private vehicle lets children of any age join drives. The Family Suite is a connected two-bedroom unit for up to two adults and two children aged 12 to 16, and specialist walking safaris stay adults-only.

What does the rate at Tengile River Lodge include?

Tengile's own site does not break down what its 2026 high-season rate of R46,500 per person sharing includes or excludes. A private vehicle can be added for R23,000 a night in either season, and the Family Suite is priced separately at R162,750 to R175,000 a night for the whole unit.

Can you self-drive to Tengile River Lodge?

Partly. Tengile's own site describes a roughly five-hour drive from Johannesburg as an option alongside flying into Skukuza Airport or Kruger Mpumalanga International, with a 15 to 20 minute transfer from Skukuza. Sabi Sand is a private reserve, so once there every game drive runs through Tengile's own guides and vehicles.

Is Tengile River Lodge wheelchair accessible?

Tengile's own site states the lodge is wheelchair accessible with assistance, which is more than most Sabi Sand properties publish. It does not give further detail on specific suites or bathroom fittings, so confirm exactly what assistance is available when you book.
