Sable Camp is the smaller of MalaMala's two classic camps, seven thatched suites within the 13,500-hectare MalaMala Game Reserve, some able to sleep three guests sharing rather than the usual two. The 2026 rate runs one flat figure of R30,150 per person sharing, with no 2027 price yet published and no conservation levy amount stated on the site. As with MalaMala Camp next door, Sable sits outside the Sabi Sand Wildtuin's own membership list, so it is worth confirming with the lodge what levy, if any, applies to a stay here.

From R30,150 pppn (2026). 2026 (1 Jan-31 Dec, one flat rate): R30,150 per person sharing across the Luxury Suites and the lodge's separately named suite. No 2027 rate is published. Converted at 1 USD = 16.35 ZAR on 23 September 2026, that is about $1,844. No conservation levy amount is published on the lodge's own site, and Sable Camp, like MalaMala Camp, is not listed as a Sabi Sand Wildtuin member.
What the rate covers is not confirmed. We do not know yet whether meals, drinks and activities are included, so read this as the bed only.

Two booking-agent microsites, sabisands.com and sabisands.co.za (both spelled with an 's', unrelated to the association), were checked for cross-reference only and are not used as a source for any rate or levy figure. Ulusaba's own site quotes no nightly rate for its three lodges, so those are recorded as rates on request. Sabi Sabi and MalaMala are not on the Sabi Sand Wildtuin's own lodge list, and neither states whether the reserve's own conservation contribution applies to a stay there; both maintain their own separate levy or none at all, as noted lodge by lodge.

Is Sable Camp good for families?
With conditions. Children under 12 may not stay unless the whole camp is booked exclusively for 14 to 20 guests, though a private vehicle lets children of any age join game drives. Those aged 12 to 16 can join standard drives and walks, but specialist safaris stay adults-only.
What does the rate at Sable Camp include?
Sable Camp's own site does not break down what its 2026 flat rate of R30,150 per person sharing includes or excludes. A private vehicle can be added so that children of any age can join drives, and the camp's gym and massage service are based next door at MalaMala Camp.
Can you self-drive to Sable Camp?
Partly. Sable's own site describes a five to six hour drive from Johannesburg as an option, alongside flying to the nearby MalaMala private airstrip via a scheduled shuttle from O.R. Tambo with a short transfer to the camp. Once there, every game drive runs through Sable's own guides and vehicles.
Can you book the whole of Sable Camp?
Yes. Sable Camp can be booked exclusively for its full capacity of 14 to 20 guests across seven suites, some of which sleep three guests sharing. Exclusive booking is also the only way for children under 12 to stay, since the camp does not otherwise accept them.
